Volta Resources is exploring on 10 projects, comprising 23 individual properties for a total of 3,442 km2 of highly prospective greenstone belts located in Burkina Faso, Ghana and Mali. The projects are generally located on the margins of mature to emerging gold belts, the geological setting for numerous world-class gold mines in the region.

In 2011, Volta has been focussed primarily on its most advanced projects. In Burkina Faso, these include extensive and aggressive drilling campaigns at the Kiaka Gold Project, Nassara gold project and the Titao gold project. Over 130,000 metres of drilling are planned on these three projects during 2011. The resource at Kiaka has recently been significantly enhanced with an updated NI43-101 compliant resource for the Kiaka deposit completed on time before the end of H1 2011. This will lead into a prefeasibility study which Volta hopes to complete in Q1 2012. In tandem, additional metallurgical test work, social and environmental baseline studies, hydro geological and geotechnical studies will occur. Drilling to refine existing gold targets on the Nassara project and to drill test the extensive parallel structures identified in 2010. At Titao, the exciting Toulfe prospect will be refined and an initial drilling program is planned for H2 2011

In Mali, earlier stage work including geochemical soil sampling, ground geophysics and auger drilling will be undertaken on the South Mali Project.

In Ghana, work has been suspended on the Bui Gold Project pending resolution of an impasse created by the Ghanaian Environmental Protection Agency not renewing the required environmental permits for exploration because it deems that any potential mining might have an impact on the structural integrity of the Bui dam which is currently being constructed more than 25 kilometres from the closest Bui properties. Newmont Ghana continue exploring on the Newmont JV Project located on strike to the south of the Ahafo Mine structure.
