Birim to Commence 5,000 Meter Drill Program on the Tinga Property
Montreal, Canada, December 4, 2007 - Birim Goldfields Inc. (BGI: TSX) ("Birim" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that pursuant to the recent completion of a NI 43-101 compliant resource estimation (232,000 ounces gold total resources), for the Far East gold deposit at Birim's wholly owned Tinga Property in Ghana, West Africa, a new 5,000 meter drill program has been planned and is scheduled to commence shortly.
The drill program and exploration activity at Tinga is primarily aimed to:
Boart Longyear Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Boart Longyear Drilling Services has been contracted by Birim to complete 4,600-meter of RC drilling and 400 meters of core drilling. As outlined above, the program has been designed to test extensions of Tinga Far East and the newly defined soil geochemical targets (see attached map). These recently completed soil geochemical surveys have refined the existing broad anomalies, providing 8 new discrete gold-in-soil targets with a combined mineralized strike length of 6,200 meters within 3 kilometers of the Far East gold deposit.
- Further delineate the strike extensions of the main mineralization of the Far East deposit;
- Investigate the strike continuity of an untested footwall zone of mineralization at Tinga Far East (7 meters at 2.07 g/t Au); and,
- Geochemically refine the broad anomalies peripheral to Far East to focus future RC and core drill testwork.
